The Alliance Bank Eco-Biz Dream Project (‘Dream Project”), the first environmental themed business pitch plan competition was launched on 19 October 2016 at KLCC Convention Centre. Themed ‘‘If you could run a project to improve the Malaysian environment, what would it be?’, the Dream Project is aimed to increase awareness of current environmental issues among university students. The Dream Project gives university students a chance to make an impact towards the environment and society by proposing sustainable and innovative solutions to address environmental concerns within Malaysia. Roadshows are currently being held at 20 public and private universities with Design Thinking workshops conducted to help students craft an environmental themed business plan.

Save A Tree, Plant A Tree

Staff posing happily for a memorable shot after planting the trees

On 10 September 2016, 50 staff volunteers took time off on a weekend to participate in a tree planting activity and learned more about Mother Earth in an effort to build a healthy environment for the next generation. The Tree Planting activity was aimed to educate staff on the environment especially on trees and the way nature reacts if we do not preserve the environment that surrounds us.

Staff in action during the tree planting activity

On the trek to the tree planting site, staff were educated by the rangers on the different trees that grow at FRIM. Everyone were given a demonstration of how to plant a tree before having a chance to plant 30 fruit trees such as durian hutan, rambai hutan, asam gelugur, kerian dot, nyatoh tembaga, karas and avocado.

Reducing IT Carbon Footprint

The Bank encouraged staff to reduce our carbon footprint by optimising printing needs in a secure manner, reducing daily printing and space by saving documents on a hard disk. In addition, we worked towards conserving energy by switching off the air conditioner at 5.45pm on weekdays and on weekends.

Conserving Energy

The Bank continues to create an environment whereby staff can enjoy a sense of diversity, be well informed and simply have fun in the way we operate on a day-to-day basis while sustaining success for the next generation.
