AIMB makes a comeback with Alliance Regular Income Fund (ARIF)

Kuala Lumpur, 15 October 2009 - Alliance Investment Management Berhad (AIMB), a subsidiary of Alliance Bank Malaysia Berhad has responded to the public's demand by launching their first close-ended fund, the Alliance Regular Income Fund (ARIF).

Executive Director and Head of AIMB, Nik Azhar Abdullah said "Alliance Regular Income Fund (ARIF), an income fund in the bond fund category will be co-managed by external fund manager, Fullerton Fund Management Company Ltd. ARIF is available for purchase in the next 45 days, with a minimum initial investment of RM1,000 at RM1.00 per unit. The Fund primarily targets investors with low risk tolerance who wish to diversify their assets by investing in a predominantly Asian bond portfolio with a view towards consistent, reasonable and stable level of investment returns. The fund will take advantage of the relative high yields available currently for certain investment grade Asian bonds. The high yields are the result of the increase in risk premium as a consequence of the global financial crisis from which world economies are currently recovering. The hold to maturity strategy to be adopted will allow projection of returns which are expected to be higher than current fixed-deposit rates. With interest rates not expected to rise significantly during the tenure of the Fund, investors will have an opportunity to lock-in the attractive yield targeted by the Fund for the next three years".

With an approved fund size of 200 million units, ARIF will invest a minimum 90% of its NAV in credit-related securities, primarily domiciled in the Asian region. It may also invest in non-Asian issuers where the investments would include senior secured/unsecured debts, subordinated debts, sovereign debts, commercial papers, cash and money market instruments.

The launch of ARIF further expands AIMB's offering of financial products which ranges from equities to bonds, conventional to Islamic and local to global for both corporate and individual customers.

ARIF is distributed by Alliance Bank Malaysia Berhad, Standard Chartered Bank Malaysia Berhad, Phillip Mutual Berhad, and corporate unit trust adviser (CUTA), iFast Capital Sdn Bhd. AIMB's individual agents are also distributing the Fund.
