Penang, 16 May 2008 - In commemorating Teachers Day this year, Alliance Bank in view of its partnership with Chinese Independence Schools (CIS) for the CIS Affinity Card programme, has celebrated with the teachers and contributed a Eu Yan Sang Hamper worth RM400 to each partner school throughout the country.
"Education has been and will always be the foundation of our nation's growth. Being community-centred, Alliance Bank is pleased that we are able to take time to commemorate and appreciate the sacrifices that our teachers have made to nurture us to be who we are today," said Ang Seng Jin, Alliance Bank Regional Sales Manager - Northern Region during the hamper presentation ceremony at the Chung Ling Private High School, Penang recently.
The hamper was also given as a token of appreciation for the support the school has given toward the CIS Affinity Card programme.
Alliance Bank's CIS Affinity Card Programme is the first to incorporate a micro-donation feature that enables cardmembers to make cash-less donations to a Chinese Independent School of their choice to help fund the school's activities. Cardmembers can choose to pledge half or all of their accumulated Timeless Bonus Points to a Chinese Independent School of their choice. The Bank will then convert these points into cash value and also make an additional contribution to each school. As part of its corporate social responsibility programme, Alliance Bank has also contributed RM349,388.06 to over 15 CIS across Malaysia to date. The programme has shown a gradual but steady increase in its CIS Affinity card base, reflecting the growing support for the programme.
Further supplementing the Cardmember's donation, Alliance Bank has contributed a percentage of the total retail spending of the Cardmember to the CIS of choice. This represents an additional and direct contribution from the Bank to the school, a move that will fortify the school's fund-raising efforts while helping Cardmembers to fulfil their desire to support education, in general, and their beloved alma mater, in particular.
