16 Commercial Banking Young Executives graduated from their year long programme. Following their successors' footsteps, our promising Young Executives Batch 2 underwent a comprehensive training and hands-on attachment in various departments offered by the bank. Through their resilience and patience, these young graduates managed to harbour through challenges in work and managed to outshine with highflying results. The graduation ceremony was officiated by Commercial Banking Group Head, Fung Kai Jin, followed by an award giving ceremony plus a light refreshment.

Following the successful implementation of our Service Quality Campaign, a one-day seminar, Service MAD was held. The seminar served as a platform to educate and showcase the ideas on delivering superior standards of customer service. Participants were taught on the seven Service Factors and were each provided with a Service MAD booklet. Service MAD concluded with all participants taking a Service Pledge.

The Group's Organisation Learning Department and Alliance Islamic Bank Berhad (AIS) in collaboration with Group Consumer Unit organised a one-day seminar on Shariah Compliance Awareness & Control Self-Assessment for employees at the Sheraton Imperial Hotel Kuala Lumpur. The comprehensive seminar gave a total roadmap for participants to learn and understand the importance and principles of Shariah Compliance in Islamic Banking business, the Shariah Committee s functions as well as the procedures and steps to carry out Shariah compliance Control Self-Assessment. The key topics covered the legal framework of Shariah compliance, Shariah contracts and AIS Shariah Governance.

A town hall meeting entitled, "Resilience in the Face of Adversity" was held at Capital Square, Kuala Lumpur for employees of the Bank. Initiated by Datuk Bridget Lai to keep employees abreast with the existing economic challenges faced by the financial services industry, the town hall meeting was divided into two sessions where members of the Senior Management team shared the Bank's plans and strategies to navigate through the turmoil and economic crisis for 2009 and 2010.

AFG Selection battled to a hard earned 5-5 draw in a recent friendly game played against OCBC (Singapore) Selection held on 28 Feb 2009 at New Vision Badminton Academy, PJ. The players participated in 2 men singles, 4 men doubles, 2 mixed doubles and 2 ladies doubles matches. It was indeed a good workout for both teams!
