Alliance Cash2home offers Mobile Account Opening & Remittance

Bank leverages on technology innovation to deliver Mobile-First Banking in Malaysia
 

Kuala Lumpur, 13 June 2017 – Alliance Bank Malaysia Berhad (“Alliance Bank”) and Alliance Islamic Bank Berhad (“Alliance Islamic Bank”) are proud to launch today ‘Alliance Cash2Home’, a first-in-Malaysia mobile foreign remittance application that offers paperless account opening and remittance services via mobile phone, all without the need to go to a bank branch.

The Alliance Cash2Home is primarily destined for foreign workers in Malaysia, and has been designed with the needs of both employers and employees in mind.

The combination of facial recognition biometrics with optical character recognition allows a secure, effective, and convenient way to perform mass account opening on employers' premises. The solution enables the seamless verification of foreign workers’ identity during account opening.

As a result, employees do not need to take leave to complete their banking matters at the bank branch. The Alliance Cash2Home also eliminates any cash handling risks by employers when paying their workers at the end of the month.

“Based on our forward positioning research, we learnt from the business owners that employees usually have to take leave from work to complete their account opening at the bank branch. Their employees told us that remitting money home can be a tedious and time-consuming affair. By leveraging on technology, and working on what our customer needs, we have simplified the process of account opening and foreign remittance to be fast and hassle-free for both employer and employee,” he added.

The Alliance Cash2Home ushers in a new mobile banking user experience that is both simple and secure.

It uses a new mobile transaction authorization method via a “live selfie” and by securing the smartphone owned by the account holder. Foreign worker employees no longer need to risk handling cash and queuing up at remittance service outlets to remit money home. All they need is their mobile phone and the Alliance Cash2Home application. Regular users of Alliance Cash2Home will also enjoy benefits such as in-app rewards, and mobile prepaid reloads by the next release of the app in July 2017.

Mr Ken Yong, Senior Vice President, Head of Group Transformation Office of Alliance Bank said, “Research data shows that 92% of foreign workers in Malaysia own a mobile phone. Of these, 61% own a smart phone . With Alliance Cash2Home, all they need to do is use their existing mobile phone to download the application from the Google Play Store.”

“We have tested the application with a focus group and received positive results, with 100% acceptance rate from foreign workers. 65% of business owners have also registered interest in signing up for Alliance Cash2Home,” said Mr Yong.

Alliance Cash2Home currently offers foreign remittance service to nine countries with some of the most documented foreign workers in Malaysia, namely Indonesia (Rupiah), Nepal (Rupee), Bangladesh (Taka), Myanmar (Kyat), India (Rupee), the Philippines (Peso), Sri Lanka (Rupee), Pakistan (Rupee) and Vietnam (USD).
